It was the second friendly test for Chris Hughton after securing qualification for next year’s Total Energies African Cup of Nations tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.
After being paired with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique in group B, the road map for the AFCON was set as the Black Stars were hoping to break the over 42-year cup drought on their 23rd African Cup of Nations tournament.
The stars took on Mexico as both teams were tactically disciplined as the first department of the game was even.
The second department took a different turn as Mexico recorded two goals to their account through Lozano and Uriel Antuna. With Black Stars tasting their first defeat under Chris Hughton.
The Black Stars will take on the United States of America on Wednesday in another friendly contest amid their preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and next year’s Total Energies African Cup of Nations tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.
