A 21-year-old small-scale miner, identified as Wofa Jonathan, has died in a canoe accident on the Pra River near Twifo Kotokye in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.
The incident reportedly occurred when the deceased was returning from purchasing diesel for mining activities. The canoe is said to have struck a rock on the river, causing it to capsize.
The body of the deceased, a resident of Twifo Pewodie, was later retrieved from the river and deposited at a mortuary for preservation.
Police have since commenced investigations into the incident.
The Pra River has recorded several similar accidents in recent years, raising concerns about safety compliance among river users.
