The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Hon. Isaac Yawson, has announced new restrictions on commercial motorcycle and tricycle operations in the district. Under the directive, Okada, Aboboyaa, and Pragyia riders are barred from operating between midnight and 5:00 a.m.
Hon. Yawson explained that the measure aims to curb rising criminal activities, particularly robberies, often carried out during late-night hours. He clarified that only riders engaged in emergencies such as transporting patients to health facilities or assisting travelers with luggage will be exempted.
The DCE further highlighted safety concerns, urging riders to avoid overspeeding and reckless behavior at night. He advised them to wear reflective clothing or attach reflectors to their vehicles to improve visibility and reduce accidents.
Additionally, Hon. Yawson cautioned commercial drivers on the Twifo Praso–Cape Coast highway against arbitrary fare increases. He warned that drivers who exploit passengers through unjustified charges will be arrested and prosecuted, stressing the importance of fairness and commuter protection.
