Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is mourning the tragic loss of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six others who died in a military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday.
The crash, which occurred in a remote area near Adansi, claimed the lives of high-ranking government officials and military personnel who were en route to Obuasi to launch the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme.
President John Mahama has declared three days of national mourning, beginning Thursday, August 7. During this period, national flags will be flown at half-mast in honor of the victims.
Former President Kufuor expressed deep sorrow and shock over the tragedy. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
He also called on Ghanaians to honor the memory of the fallen through unity, compassion, and a shared commitment to national service.
