Bernard Bediako Baidoo, a legal practitioner, has emerged victorious in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary for the Akwatia Constituency. He secured 380 votes, narrowly defeating Erasmus Ali Korney, who polled 366 votes.
Former Member of Parliament Henry Yiadom Boakye finished third with 226 votes.
The primary was held following the sudden passing of sitting MP Ernest Yaw Kumi in July 2025.
Baidoo, who currently serves as the NDC’s constituency secretary and is a member of the party’s legal team, expressed gratitude to delegates for their trust. He pledged to unify the party ahead of the upcoming by-election.
The outcome marks a new chapter for the NDC in Akwatia as the party prepares to defend the marginal seat it won in the 2024 general elections.
