Former Managing Director of Ghana Post, Bice Osei Kuffuor, popularly known as Obour, has called on Minister Sam George to exercise caution and patience in handling the recent dismissal of over 100 workers at Ghana Post. The dismissals, which took effect on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, were reportedly based on claims that the affected employees were hired after the December 7, 2024, general elections. However, Obour insists that the recruitment process was conducted properly and in line with due process.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Obour clarified that no appointments were made after the elections. He explained that the last set of appointment letters was issued on December 9, 2024, but the recruitment process, including medical screenings and interviews, had been completed as early as November. He emphasized that these workers were not hired unlawfully and urged the Minister to conduct a thorough review before enforcing the dismissals.

“I strongly believe that if the Minister exercises patience and thoroughly reviews the recruitment process, he will realize that the appointment letters were issued as far back as December 9, which predates the election date being cited as the reason for the dismissals,” Obour stated. He further argued that the dismissals, if not reversed, could unjustly affect the livelihoods of the affected employees and create unnecessary tension within the organization.
