The government has declared Monday, March 31, 2025, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in observance of Eid-Ul-Fitr.
In an official statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government explained that while Eid-Ul-Fitr falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, an additional holiday has been granted in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601). This ensures that Ghanaians have ample time to celebrate the important Islamic festival.
“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I.) declared Monday, 31st March 2025, and Tuesday, 1st April 2025, as additional Public Holidays and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the statement read.
Eid-Ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is a significant religious occasion for Muslims worldwide. The declaration of these holidays reflects the government’s recognition of the festival’s importance to the Muslim community in Ghana.
The Interior Ministry urged the public to observe the holidays peacefully and responsibly while extending warm Eid wishes to all celebrants.
