Samuel Sarfo Duku, the Communications Director for Asante Kotoko, announced that the police have identified a suspect named Brimah in the stabbing death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as Nana Pooley. The incident occurred on February 2, 2025, following a Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC at Nana Koronamansah Park.
During a press briefing after court proceedings on February 17, 2025, Duku confirmed that Brimah is currently at large and has been named the primary suspect in Pooley’s death. According to police documents referred to by Duku, all individuals detained in connection with the case have admitted that Brimah was the one who fatally stabbed Pooley.
“Now it means that one person is still at large; he’s called Brimah. The police, per their facts, said that he actually stabbed the deceased person to death,” Duku stated.
The untimely death of Pooley has sparked calls for justice, with fans and community members urging law enforcement to intensify their efforts to locate Brimah and ensure he faces the consequences of his actions. This incident raises serious questions about fan safety at sporting events and highlights the importance of effective security protocols.
