Chaos erupted in Ejura, Ashanti Region, earlier today when irate Zongo youth stormed the local police station, freeing suspects and setting the station ablaze. Vehicles and motorbikes parked at the station were also torched.
The unrest followed the death of a suspect who had been arrested and detained for alleged phone theft. Reports indicate that the police transferred the deceased’s body to the morgue without informing his family, sparking outrage among the community.
Eyewitnesses describe the situation as tense, with angry youth demanding answers from the police over the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death.
