Reflecting on the current situation, President Mahama acknowledged the tremendous economic challenges Ghanaians have faced in recent years, including a rise in public debt, high inflation, and a decline in living standards. He stressed that these economic difficulties have profoundly impacted the lives of many citizens, making it essential to implement effective measures aimed at restoring economic stability and fostering growth.

The president emphasized the necessity for a comprehensive approach to tackle the nation’s economic woes, such as debt restructuring, fiscal consolidation, and structural reforms to revive the economy and enhance the well-being of citizens.

He asserted that good governance should have a direct and positive impact on people’s lives, transforming democracy from a mere concept into a tangible force for improvement. He believes that the government must be efficient, transparent, and responsive to its citizens’ needs, creating an environment where everyone can prosper.

“We have endured severe economic hardships, moving from one crisis to another in recent years. However, there is hope on the horizon,” he stated.

Marking this day as a new beginning, he added, “This moment represents a turning point and a new opportunity, a milestone to redefine our governance and economic strategies. Together, we shall reset our beloved nation, Ghana.”
