Masters should not keep the student’s equipment from working, depriving them of learning. – GEA

The Ghana Enterprise Agency and Master Card Foundation, held the maiden event of Registering individuals for various skill training and startup kits for establishment, the Program was held at Dunkwa First Baptist Church in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality.

Mr. Prince Heward Harisson the GEA director for Dunkwa On-Offin chaired the program.

He said the initiative is to have thousands of individuals who are ready for a skill to take them through training and give them start up kits to begin with.

He said people who are done with apprenticeship yet can’t afford equipments to work are welcome to register.

Mr. Prince while talking to Denkyiraman News Network said 900 people in the Upper Denkyira East are expected to register, however over 900 people will be registered.

“I’m urging everyone especially youths in the Municipality with no skills nor Educational qualifications to utilize this opportunity as many are enjoying the outcome of this project”, he said.

“A lot of people are coming for the sake of taking the start up kit and sell them afterwards, but I advise these people to desist and have a rethink because, GEA will put out officers to visit each and everyone to know how useful the training and kits has been to every one whose name is on their data”, Mr. Harisson added.

Nadmo Director in the Municipality, Mr. Alhassan Yakubu while addressing the attendees advised and sited problems that the agency had faced on the part of some registered members in the past.
He said some selectees were sent to Tarkwa for orientation and training but couldn’t continue learning, instead run back to their homes.

He Adviced all applicants to have patience with their masters and respect them ones they are done with training and handed over to their respective masters.
“Don’t come because you want the equipment to sell or boast of “, he said.

“Skilled masters should as well calm down with their subordinates and teach them with a good attitude as monitoring would be ongoing to ensure that students given out toasters are taught well as well as a peaceful coexistence between masters and their students is exhibited”,he added.

Also thanked Leaders of the GEA for such an initiative and expressed his gratitude to the Member of Parliament, Hon. Festus Awuah Kwoffie for approving such a good project in his Municipal.

Assembly Member, for the Zongo Electoral Area in Dunkwa On-Offin Hon. Ousman Adams – also advised that all apprentices who would be sent out after training should do away with disrespectful practices and behaviours to be able to learn something from their masters.

Also Masters should allow apprentices to have a chance to participate in practical activities rather than making them run unnecessary errands and wasting their entire time doing nothing.

He said many youths through this initiative have their own skill and knowledge and working at their desired places.
