Minister for Information, and designate Fatimatu Abubakar has urged for the establishment of an environment that nurtures the success of women across the nation.
During her scrutiny by Parliament’s Appointment Committee on Friday 8th March 2024, she voiced concerns about the persistent intimidation faced by many women in public spaces due to victimisation.
However, Hon. Abubakar highlighted the pivotal role of women in every sector, noting their substantial contributions and advocating for the provision of ample opportunities for their advancement.
“As a gender advocate, especially on this International Women’s Day, I emphasize the necessity for the amplification of feminine voices.
“The diverse examples, dynamics, and perspectives that women bring to the table are invaluable.
“It’s disheartening to witness numerous women, despite being bright, knowledgeable, and opinionated, feeling hesitant to occupy spaces,” she remarked.
In the meantime, Ghana, like the rest of the world, commemorates this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) under the theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.’
Observed annually on March 8th, the day serves as a tribute to women’s contributions in every facet of human existence.
The campaign theme for IWD 2024 aims to inspire others to recognize and appreciate women’s inclusion, thus forging a better world.
