The strong and controversial Journalist speaking in an interview with Denkyiraman’s News Network, pointed out various challenges that women face in the Media world.
She noted that women are not always able to express their talents and knowledge in their work space because it’s believed that women are only limited to Social stories, Entertainment and some administrative skills.
“It’s mostly difficult for women to be given political shows or duties on air because you’d have to do something extraordinary or twice as much as men do to get that space”, she said.
She further explained how difficult it is for women in the media space get spouses to make the wives due to their line of work.
“ A significant number of men believe women in the media are not “wifey materials” because of the limited time they have and their ability to stay focus on their own family”, she added.
“Looking for a job even as a woman in Media is not easy as some irresponsible men would want to touch you inappropriately, beauty and lots of qualities may be looked at before you’re offered a job”, Yaa Brefo lamented.
Nana Yaa Brefo advised that all these are challenges a woman may face in the media but urges all women to be focused and hope for a successful ending.
She also advised young women enrolling in media education to avoid being looked down upon and giving up their bodies for job opportunities.
