Two persons have been arrested following a robbery attack on the Berekum Chelsea team which killed one of its players, Dominic Frimpong.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 12, 2026, along the Bibiani–Goaso highway in the Ahafo Region, as the team was returning from a Ghana Premier League match.
In a statement, the police said the suspects include an alleged gang leader and another accomplice arrested through intelligence-led operations.
“Police have arrested the gang leader and one other suspect in connection with the robbery incident that led to the death of a Berekum Chelsea footballer,” the statement said.
The police added that one of the suspects sustained injuries during an exchange of fire with officers and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Investigations are ongoing, with the police assuring the public that more details will be communicated in due course.
