A late-night gun attack at Sakpari, a village in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region, has left three people dead, including two children, and one person injured.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, when unknown gunmen opened fire on the home of George Bukari, the Manager of Maxx Empire FM, a local radio station in Binduri. Bukari sustained a hand injury during the attack.
According to local sources, the armed men, believed to be two civilians from a rival community, had taken cover in a burnt house near the victims’ residence before launching their assault.
“George had taken the two children to the bathhouse and went back to the backyard to retrieve his sandals. It was then that the attackers struck, killing his uncle and the two children,” Atiga Salam, a community leader, told Media.
He added that Bukari narrowly escaped death when a cow intercepted a bullet aimed at him, resulting in the animal’s death and causing his hand injury.
The deceased have been identified as an adult male and two children, one aged about 14 and the other about five, who was the son of the radio manager.
Mr. Salam further explained that the assailants, who were on foot, fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving residents shocked and defenseless.
“They were not driving or riding any vehicle, and those nearby couldn’t fight back because they had no weapons,” he said.
Security officials are yet to make any arrests as investigations continue.
