Armed police and security personnel have been deployed to Bole in the Savannah Region following violent protests by local youth over the nomination of Abdulai Mahmoud as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The protesters, who burned tires and stormed the District Assembly Hall, expressed strong opposition to the nomination, alleging that Mahmoud has no connection to the area.

According to the youth, the nominee neither hails from Bole nor votes in the constituency, and was not among the officially shortlisted candidates.

In their anger, the demonstrators threatened to target Deputy Minister and Member of Parliament for the area, Sulemana Yusif, and other local leaders whom they accuse of influencing the nomination.

The situation was brought under control after security personnel intervened and addressed the crowd, leading to the dispersal of the agitated youth.

However, tension remains high in the area, with the youth vowing to resist the nomination until it is reversed.
