Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, has established a secure reporting system that includes toll-free hotlines, email, and online platforms to enable whistleblowers to anonymously report corruption.
The goal is to create a secure, centralized, and transparent system for reporting corruption, allowing whistleblowers to share evidence without the risk of exposure.
In an interview with Joy FM on December 18, 2024, Hon. Ablakwa revealed that the ORAL team is finalizing arrangements to launch multiple channels for the public to report corrupt activities.
“By tomorrow morning, we will publish toll-free hotlines and set up online platforms, including email and websites, for people to submit information anonymously,” he stated.
The President-elect, John Mahama, has already discussed the purpose of the ORAL team during a meeting with diplomats at his office.
He explained that the team would serve as a central point for collecting evidence on corruption. “We are receiving a lot of information about corruption scandals—some send me texts, others call, or pass through intermediaries. We want a focal point where all that evidence can be directed so it can be assembled and passed on to the appropriate government institutions,” Mr. Mahama said.
He assured the public that the team would not conduct investigations or operate as a witch-hunting body. “They have no brooms to fly at night. It’s not meant to witch-hunt people,” Mahama stated, adding that all team members are serving pro bono, with no associated expenses or budget.
The ORAL team, which held its first meeting on Wednesday, has decided to operate on a voluntary basis, without any financial incentives.
According to Mr. Ablakwa, “This is a selfless effort for the nation.”
