The head coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum, has issued an unreserved apology to the fans of Kotoko for his conduct during the recent match against Aduana Stars in week 22 of the GPL. Dr Ogum was involved in a heated argument with the referee, the assistants and the match commissioner after Aduana Stars scored a controversial winning goal in the 88th minute of the game.
Despite being shown a red card, Dr Ogum refused to leave the field, causing a 30-minute delay to the game. In a subsequent interview, Dr Ogum explained that his conduct was due to his desire to know the reason for the red card.
Dr Ogum has admonished the fans to support the team during these difficult times of the season and urged them to support Kotoko as a team, rather than any individual player. He has also urged them not to be political bigots when any individual leaves the team.
Kotoko is currently in 8th place in the league with 32 points and will take on newly promoted side Nations FC in the week 23 fixture of the GPL.
