Lawyer Yaw Adomako Baafi, former communications director for the New Patriotic Party(NPP) has expressed his support and views on the government’s decision to abandon the previously sanctioned policy of 15% tax on electricity bills hopefully in the course of the week.
Speaking on Denkyiraman Radio with CJ on National Agenda today 5th February 2024. In view of the decision which was deliberated at a cabinet meeting on Friday 2nd February 2024, but not decided yet.
Lawyer Adomako said the New Patriotic party under the Nana Addo Danquah government has done a lot of removal of taxes on goods and services over the years, therefore dismissing 15% VAT on electricity is good news but nothing extraordinary compared to what the government has already done.
“We can only thank God for the development,” he said.
He concluded that the New Patriotic Party and Nana Addo Danquah have zero tolerance for imposing huge taxes on ordinary citizens, this adds up to the deliberation and reason why removing VAT on electricity is key to the government.
