The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants to suspend their campaign activities until the party announces official guidelines for its parliamentary primaries.

In a statement dated October 11, 2026, and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said it had received complaints about some members who had begun campaigning in various constituencies.

The party described the activities as contrary to its regulations and Code of Conduct, warning that they could create an uneven playing field and undermine unity and discipline within the party.

The directive prohibits all forms of campaigning, including the mounting of posters, billboards and banners, organising rallies, meeting polling station executives and undertaking constituency tours to solicit support.

It also bars aspirants from distributing items or offering other inducements to delegates and party members, as well as sponsoring paid media and social media advertisements to promote their candidacies.

The statement further directed party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, including members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy Network (TESCON), to refrain from promoting any parliamentary aspirant on social media platforms such as Facebook, X and Instagram.

Party officers have also been cautioned against facilitating what the NPP described as premature parliamentary campaign activities.

The NPP warned that persons who flouted the directive would face disciplinary action, which could affect their eligibility to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries.

It said the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary primary process would be announced in due course.

The party has consequently directed constituency and regional executives to ensure strict compliance with the directive in their respective jurisdictions.

The statement appealed to all party members to cooperate with the leadership and adhere to the directive to safeguard unity, discipline and fairness ahead of the parliamentary primaries.
