Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, will take on Mexico national football team on May 22, 2026, in their third and final international friendly ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Head coach Otto Addo will use the game to fine-tune tactics and assess his squad’s readiness for the global showpiece, following earlier preparatory matches against Austria national football team and Germany national football team in March.

The friendly is expected to provide a stern test for the Black Stars as they build momentum towards the tournament. Mexico, one of the host nations, will also use the encounter to sharpen their squad ahead of their opening World Cup fixture against South Africa national football team on June 11.

Ghana will open their Group L campaign against Panama national football team on June 17 in Toronto, before facing challenging ties against England national football team and Croatia national football team.

Although the venue for the Mexico friendly has yet to be announced, both teams are expected to finalise their squads and make last-minute tactical adjustments ahead of the tournament.

With the World Cup fast approaching, the match presents Ghana with a valuable opportunity to test their strength against top-level opposition and make any necessary refinements before stepping onto football’s biggest stage.
