The Upper Denkyira East Municipal Ambulance Service has reported a significant decrease in emergency cases for the first quarter of 2025, with only 25 persons transported, compared to 47 in the same period last year.

According to Mr. Charles Dawson, the Municipal Ambulance Service Officer, the decline is largely due to the municipality’s ambulance being faulty and currently undergoing repairs.

While the ambulance remains out of service, the team is relying on support from the nearest ambulance station to respond to emergencies.

In an interview with Denkyiraman News, Mr. Dawson emphasized that the Ambulance Service falls under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Assembly and the central government, meaning the timeline for the vehicle’s return depends on the authorities.

He further stated that despite these challenges, the Ambulance Service remains committed to strengthening healthcare delivery with support from stakeholders and the public. However, he acknowledged that significant hurdles remain, particularly in rural areas.
