Maame Efua Houadjeto Appointed CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority

Maame Efua Houadjeto has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). A former Deputy Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Mfantsiman in the 2024 elections, she steps into the role with a wealth of leadership experience. Her appointment is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the tourism sector and harness its economic potential.

Houadjeto takes over from Akwasi Agyeman, who had a successful tenure marked by significant growth in both international and domestic tourism. As the new CEO, she is expected to drive initiatives that promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while boosting the country’s appeal as a top tourist destination. Her leadership will be instrumental in advancing policies that enhance tourism’s contribution to national development.
