The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, along with Mark Okraku Mantey, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, visited Upper Denkyira East on Wednesday, November 27th, for the commissioning of the first phase of Eco-Park, a tourist site located in Denkyira Kyekyewere in the Central Region.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister and the CEO met with notable figures from the Upper Denkyira East municipality, including Dr. Festus Awuah Kwoffie, the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labor Relations, who played a significant role in the establishment of the Eco-Park. They were also joined by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ebenezer Appiah Forson. The group engaged in discussions with party leaders to ensure peace and stability in the municipality ahead of the 2024 General Election.

Following this, Mr. Agyeman, Hon. Okraku-Mantey, and Hon. Appiah Forson made a stop at Denkyiraman Radio to connect with the community through the media.

In a personal interview on the National Agenda, Hon. Okraku-Mantey shared his evaluation of President Nana Addo Dankwa and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s performance. He praised the exceptional working relationship between the two leaders, calling it unprecedented in the Fourth Republic.

“Many presidents tend to maintain a strictly professional relationship with their vice presidents,” he noted. “However, Dr. Bawumia has humbly supported President Nana Addo and listened to his guidance, making them one of the best leadership teams in our nation.”

Hon. Okraku-Mantey also expressed gratitude to the Akufo-Addo government for repairing divisions within the party and maintaining peace as the elections approach.

During the commissioning of the Eco-Park in Denkyira Kyekyewere, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman thanked the Nananom (traditional leaders) of the Kyekyewere Traditional Council for their support in leasing land for this important project. He recalled his earlier visit to Kyekyewere, where he identified the Detiko River and pledged to take action to develop the area into a tourist attraction for people both near and far.

He expressed appreciation to Dr. Festus Awuah Kwoffie for his continued lobbying and commitment to completing the project. Together with Hon. Mark Okraku-Mantey, Mr. Agyeman then handed over the site to the residents and the Nananom of Kyekyewere, urging them to take responsibility for its upkeep and ensure its success.

Mr. Agyeman emphasized that this first phase is just the beginning, and he promised that a second phase would be initiated in the near future. He encouraged the community to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Festus Awuah to support further development projects in the area.

In response, the Nananom of Denkyira Kyekyewere expressed their gratitude to Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, the MP, the MCE, and Hon. Okraku-Mantey for establishing such a significant project on their land, appreciating the honor bestowed upon them by these leaders.
