President John Dramani Mahama has charged Ghana’s newly commissioned High Commissioners and Ambassadors to ensure their diplomatic missions translate into tangible benefits for the country.
Speaking at a commissioning ceremony at the Presidency, President Mahama stressed the need for purposeful diplomacy, urging the envoys to align their mission plans with Ghana’s development priorities.
“Your mission plans must be firmly aligned with Ghana’s development priorities,” he stated.
The President encouraged the diplomats to focus on economic diplomacy by attracting strategic investments and creating opportunities that directly improve the lives of Ghanaians.
He reminded them that Ghana’s reputation as a stable democracy and responsible nation is the result of decades of sacrifice and national consensus, and described their appointments as a call to serve with competence, integrity and purpose.
President Mahama further urged the envoys to project Ghana as a dependable international partner, while engaging meaningfully with the diaspora and foreign stakeholders to generate measurable outcomes for national development.
The newly sworn-in envoys include:
- Alhaji Said Saleh Sinare, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Lt. Col. Al Hajj Umar Sanda Ahmed, Ambassador to the Republic of Mali
- Kofi Attor, Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba
- Emmanuel Opeku, Ambassador-in-Situ
- Regina Appiah-Sam, High Commissioner to the Republic of Malta
President Mahama noted that the success of the envoys would not be measured by ceremonial duties, but by their ability to strengthen trade, investment, tourism and strategic partnerships that support Ghana’s national development agenda.
