The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has denied recent reports suggesting a new producer price for cocoa, describing the claims as unfounded and misleading.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, April 10, COCOBOD clarified that no official announcement has been made regarding any change in the cocoa producer price.
The Board highlighted two major reasons why such claims are inaccurate. Firstly, there is currently no functional Board of Directors in place to authorize a new price. Secondly, the Producer Price Review Committee responsible for assessing market conditions and recommending price adjustments has not yet been constituted.
COCOBOD emphasized that, in the absence of these key institutional structures, any declaration of a new producer price is both unauthorized and impossible.
The Board urged the public and media to disregard these unverified reports and await official communication through designated channels.
