Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has commenced a three-week medical leave beginning Monday, April 7, 2025.
This follows medical advice after a recent illness that required her to seek care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra. Her condition has since stabilized, but further treatment and rest have been recommended, prompting her to seek specialized care abroad.
Officials say the Vice President’s temporary absence will not affect the smooth running of government business, as key responsibilities have been delegated appropriately.
Her office has expressed appreciation for the outpouring of well wishes and assured the public of regular updates on her recovery.
More details will be shared as they become available.
