Kwabena Adjei, a 26-year-old man, has been arrested by the police for allegedly murdering his girlfriend and concealing her body in a septic tank near the Bono Regional Fire Command at Sunyani Magazine.
The suspect, who reported being haunted by the ghost of his 19-year-old Nigerian girlfriend, who he only identified as Testimony, turned himself in to the police accompanied by his uncle.
Reports indicate that a heated argument between Adjei and his girlfriend escalated, leading him to allegedly strike her with his elbow, which caused her to lose consciousness and ultimately succumb to her injuries.
ADOII Ignatius explained that the Sunyani Municipal Operations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed the incident during an interview with the Ghanaian Times.
According to him, Adjei allegedly kept his girlfriend’s lifeless body in his room for three days before disposing of it in a septic tank, where it was found on Friday in an advanced state of decomposition.
Additionally, ADOII Noekor disclosed that the police sought assistance from the GNFS to recover the body from the septic tank.
To facilitate the retrieval, the GNFS team flushed water into the tank, allowing the decomposed remains to resurface and float to the top.
The Sunyani Municipal Operations Officer of GNFS confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody and is cooperating with investigators.
Notably, ADOII Noekor revealed that the victim had visited the suspect on two prior occasions before her tragic death.
