Students and staff at Odorgono Senior High School are staging a protest following the tragic death of the school’s security guard, who passed away on campus last Saturday.

The protesters have highlighted several urgent issues, particularly the lack of traffic lights in the area where both senior high school (SHS) and junior high school (JHS) students cross the road during and after school hours, which poses a significant risk to their safety.

This protest was triggered by a tragic incident in which the security guard was struck and killed by a motorcycle and then run over by a passing car, leading to his untimely death.

The students are calling on President Mahama and the Minister for Roads and Highways to take action, as many lives are at risk at this intersection.

Additionally, some residents and workers in the Odorgono area have complained that the traffic lights have not been functioning for nearly four years.

“The government should do something about it. We will continue the demonstration until the traffic lights are fixed,” they chanted.
