Maxwell Boakye Wins Western Region’s Council of State Seat in Competitive Election

Maxwell Boakye, a 32-year-old gold dealer, has won the Western Region’s seat on the Council of State with 17 out of 28 votes, beating out eight other candidates in a highly competitive election.

Mr. Boakye beat out eight other contenders, including one backed by NDC regional executives, to win the Western Region’s seat on the Council of State.

The election, held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, was attended by key regional stakeholders and delegates.

Among the participants were notable figures such as Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah, Adjei Clement, Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II, Nana Nkanomako IV, Nana Bonya Kofi VI, Morttey Ernest Selorm, Jacob Oppon-Acquah, and Mohammed Danjumah Alhassan.

Boakye’s win secures his spot as the Western Region’s representative on the Council of State, a key body that guides the President on national matters.

He’ll use his experience to advise on governance, policy, and regional growth, giving the Western Region a strong voice.
