A 19-year-old man, Emmanuel Quansah, has been remanded into custody by the Diaso District Magistrate Court for his alleged involvement in the murder of 62-year-old taxi driver Yaw Oduro in Ayanfuri. The court, presided over by Her Worship Melisa Serlom Dadson, ordered that Quansah be held until his next appearance on February 26, 2025, after he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to Police Chief Inspector Peter Sagare, Quansah is suspected of committing the crime in Ayanfuri. The victim, Yaw Oduro, reportedly left for work on January 19 but never returned home. His family filed a complaint with the Ayanfuri Police, and authorities later discovered that Quansah was in possession of Oduro’s taxi. An autopsy confirmed that Oduro was murdered.
Nana Kwabena Okyere, Asafoakye of Denkyira Akwamu, has called for a fair trial, emphasizing the family’s need for justice. Oduro leaves behind a wife and five children, and his grieving relatives are urging the Attorney General to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation to bring closure to the case.
