Agyemang Duah Owusu, a 42-year-old Police Inspector, is facing a murder charge and has been remanded in police custody by the Sunyani District Court ‘B’.
This means he’ll be held by the police while the case against him is ongoing.
The Police Inspector has been remanded by the court, which was presided over by Eric Daning, in connection with the sad death of Francis Frimpong, a huge fan of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club.
The deceased was stabbed to death on Sunday, February 2, 2025, during a match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at the Nsoatre Professor Amoah Koromansah II Stadium, as part of match 19 of the Ghana Premier League.
Owusu, along with two other suspects – Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, owner of Nsoatreman FC, and Joseph Kyeremeh, aka ‘Santos’ – appeared in court on February 4, 2025.
During the hearing, Inspector Alexander Oppong, the police prosecutor, told the court that the suspects were implicated in the murder of the victim.
The three suspects are set to return to court on February 17, 2025.
