Tragedy struck in Kisseman, near Achimota, on Wednesday, February 5, when a devastating fire claimed the life of a 4-month-old baby.
The fire engulfed several apartments and shops, leaving behind a path of destruction. Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service faced significant challenges in controlling the blaze due to the presence of highly flammable materials, which intensified the flames.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, and investigations are ongoing to determine its origins.
Alex King Nartey, the Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, reported that his team from the University of Ghana responded promptly to the early morning fire. They worked diligently to extinguish the flames. Nartey mentioned that they had received information indicating a baby was trapped in one of the rooms, but unfortunately, the baby had already succumbed to the fire by the time they retrieved them.
