A 23-year-old fisherman, Joseph Armah, has been handed an eight-year prison sentence by the Gender-Based Violence Court for defiling a four-year-old girl in Chorkor, Greater Accra Region.
The court, presided over by Dora Eshun, found Armah guilty and sentenced him accordingly, after he lured the young girl into his room with a GHC1 coin and committed the horrific act.
According to the prosecution, headed by Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei, the person who reported the incident is a boxer from Lantemaamli-Chorkor and is actually the uncle of the four-year-old victim.
“On November 29, 2024, Armah saw the victim playing around his area and called her. He offered her a GHC1 coin to buy a biscuit.
The victim bought the biscuit and consumed it. Afterwards, Armah held the victim’s hand and took her into his room along the seashore, placed her on a mattress, removed her pants to her kneel level, and had sex with her”, the prosecution said.
When the victim returned home, her mother noticed unusual behavior and questioned her, leading to the revelation of the incident.
A report was then filed with the Mamprobi police, who issued a medical form for the girl to receive treatment.
