Kumawood actress Kala Kumasi, speaking on behalf of her fellow actors who supported the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on President John Dramani Mahama to recognize their contributions by offering them government appointments. She emphasized that their tireless efforts during the election campaign, including producing a campaign advert that highlighted the party’s promises, played a crucial role in mobilizing support and securing the NDC’s victory in the December elections.
“We worked tirelessly to ensure that the message of the NDC reached every corner of the country. From producing an advert to actively campaigning, we gave our all. We believe it’s only fair that our efforts are recognized with appointments in the new government,” Kala Kumasi stated. Her appeal has stirred debate on social media, with some supporting the idea of rewarding grassroots contributors, while others insist that government appointments should be based on merit, expertise, and experience.
This call for recognition comes as President Mahama begins his term and initiates the process of ministerial and government appointments. Kala Kumasi’s plea has sparked a broader discussion on how to balance rewarding political loyalty with ensuring competence in governance, a topic that continues to dominate public discourse.
