Parliament’s Appointments Committee is set to vet the ministerial nominees chosen by President John Dramani Mahama, a process that’s required by the 1992 Constitution to get their approval before they can take office.

The vetting of ministerial nominees starts January 23, 2025, and ends January 27, 2025, with daily sessions at 8:30 a.m. in Committee Rooms 1, 2, and 3.

In preparation towards the proceedings, the Director of Media Relations has issued a memorandum to the Dean of the Parliamentary Press Corps, requesting comprehensive media coverage of the event.

The vetting sessions aim to thoroughly assess the qualifications, experience, and suitability of the nominees for regional ministerial roles and other key ministerial positions.

This exercise is a key part of Parliament’s job to make sure the government is being transparent and accountable when choosing public officials.
