A dispute between two taxi drivers in Agona Swedru, located in the Central Region of Ghana, turned deadly when 26-year-old Evans Owusu was fatally struck with a wheel spanner by fellow driver Alex Amihere.

The altercation at their workplace in the Agona West Municipality escalated, with Amihere allegedly using a wheel spanner to strike Owusu, causing life-threatening injuries.

In an interview with the media, the victim’s father, Stephen Owusu, shared the family’s struggle to save his son.

“He was first taken to Agona Swedru Hospital and then referred to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, but neither facility could manage the severity of his injuries. He eventually died at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital,” he lamented.

The grieving father has urged the Ghana Police Service to detain the suspect and ensure that justice is served.

Meanwhile, Lydia Andoh, the junior sister of the deceased’s wife, tearfully recounted the extent of Evans’ injuries.

“The suspect caused significant damage to his brain before he passed away,” she stated.
