Assin Brofoyedru Youth Clash with Police Over Self-Installed Speed Bumps After Child’s Death

Youth in Assin Brofoyedru clashed with police over speed bumps on the highway to Kumasi.

The Locals installed speed bumps after a 7-year-old was killed by a speeding car, amid rising pedestrian deaths.

This tragic incident was the sixth reported case on the highway, prompting the community to take matters into their own hands.
The youth contributed money to buy cement, which they used to construct the speed ramps.

However, the police saw the installation of the speed ramps illegal and attempted to remove them, leading to a violent confrontation.

The youth are adamant that they will not allow the police to remove the speed ramps unless they refund the money they used to buy the cement.

Reports gathered states the angry youth argued that they took the initiative to protect their community and will not back down.

Nana Oteng Adjei, Committee Chairman of Assin Brofoyedru, although supporting the action of the youth, called on the Ghana Highway Authorities to intervene and ensure the installation of ramps to prevent further loss of energy to.

The community insists that something needs to be done to address the reckless driving on their highways.

However as it stands now there has been calmness restored and both security personnel and residents are resolving the issue amicably.
