The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service, is conducting a review on the fire outbreak that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, December 17, at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools in Accra.
The facility contained ballot boxes for the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The fire, which started around 1:40 a.m., originated in the school’s library, where the ballot boxes were stored.
The Police in a statement assured the public that anyone found responsible for this incident will be arrested and prosecuted.
They also urged residents to remain calm as the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the Police has reported progress in addressing post-election disturbances across the country.
Out of 132 suspects arrested, 45 have been remanded into custody, 71 are on police inquiry bail, and 16 are on court bail.
The Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that due process is followed in all ongoing cases.
