A man in his late forties, Josontey Kwame, has been accused of killing his stepdaughter, Mary Josontey, on his farm in Sehwi Kankakrom. After the girl’s body was discovered, Kwame attempted suicide but survived and was handed over to police. The incident is under investigation, with both the suspect and the deceased’s body at Essam Hospital.
A man named Josontey Kwame believed to be in his late forties, has allegedly killed his stepdaughter on his farm at Sehwi Kankakrom near Yamatwa in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.
Isaac Oduro, a resident of the area, confirmed the tragic incident to Adom News’ Augustine Boah.
He explained that the mother of the deceased had sent her to deliver food to her stepfather at the farm.
However, after several hours, the deceased, identified as Mary Josontey, had not returned home.
Her father, only identified as Kwame Dagati, informed her mother that he had given Mary some work to do on the farm.
The father’s explanation raised suspicions, prompting one of the children to go to the farm to look for Mary.
Upon arrival, the child saw blood and discovered Mary’s body covered with leaves at a corner of the farm.
The sibling quickly returned home to inform the family.
After being accused of the murder, the father reportedly went into a room and consumed a poisonous chemical in an apparent suicide attempt, which failed.
He was restrained and handed over to the Police at Yamatwa.
The Police were notified, and the body of the deceased was taken to the Essam Government Hospital morgue.
The father is also receiving treatment at Essam Hospital under the supervision of the police.
