Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, has stressed the crucial role of digitalization in Ghana’s economic strategy, which is a primary focus of President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
During the launch of the CitizenApp on Monday, October 7, 2024, the Vice President emphasized how the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” is reshaping economies globally and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to positioning Ghana to take full advantage of this digital transformation.
The CitizenApp is an extensive platform that will provide citizens with access to various government services, facilitate issue reporting, and offer real-time updates on public matters.
Dr. Bawumia described the app as a personalized tool designed to enhance convenience and transparency in government-citizen interactions, making processes more efficient and communication with state institutions more seamless.
“Under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s leadership, digitalization has become a cornerstone of our economic strategy. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is already transforming global landscapes, and as a nation that missed out on the previous three revolutions, we cannot afford to miss this one. We must seize the opportunities it presents,” he said.
He also noted that evidence shows digital innovation’s potential to create jobs, boost productivity, raise income levels, and drive wealth creation across the nation.
