The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 3.02% increase in electricity tariffs and a 1.06% rise in water tariffs for the third quarter of 2024, effective from Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
The tariff increase will affect all categories of consumers, including those using electricity, water, and natural gas.
In response, some Ghanaians and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are complaining about the increase and its effect on their businesses.
However, Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah, the Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, speaking on the matter, said that the PURC will always exist, so consumers should adopt measures to regulate consumption.
