The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East constituency who doubles as the Minister for Employment and Labor Relations, Hon. Dr. Festus Awuah Kwoffie has again petitioned for the Public Utility Regulatory Committee (PURC) to hear and tackle the grievances of the good people of his constituency regarding their Utility tariffs.
Dr. Festus in and interview with Chief Justice on Denkyiraman’s National Agenda explained that over the past year his constituents have complained bitterly to him about their utility billing and how high tariffs have been risen and imposed on them to pay.
This he said has been an issue of interest to him and an important one at that, thus his call for the PURC to visit Upper Denkyira East from the Ashanti Region to tackle the issue.
The Honorable Minister continued that there’s going to be an open forum where residents would have to come with their previous bills and complaints, for the PURC representatives to have a detailed understanding and deliberations on.
He added that an opportunity would be given to the individuals to raise their concerns and get an education as it’s worth.
The Ashanti Regional PRO for the Public Utility Regulatory Committee in the Ashanti Region, Mr.Richard Asiedu also told Denkyiraman that he’s looking forward to meet residents of Upper Denkyira East.
He expressed that Dr. Festus Awuah has done a good job for his constituents by addressing such delicate matters to maintain the already existing peace in the Municipality.
Mr.Richard Asiedu said all concerns, questions and grievances would be taken into consideration, and the team would sit to investigate all as soon as possible to determine where the problems come from.
He again advised the public to make sure of taking appropriate meters from the right places to avoid tariff destructions.
