Dr. Bawumia Mediates Peace Between NPP’s Wontumi and Napo.

Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has resolved the conflict between the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi), and the NPP member of Parliament for the Manhyia South constituency and Minister for Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo).

There have been tensions between Wontumi and Napo over various issues within the NPP, with Wontumi opposing the proposed nomination of Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 general elections.

To address these issues, Dr. Bawumia engaged in discussions with Wontumi and other leading NPP members. A meeting was held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Dr. Bawumia’s official residence, where the differences were resolved and a unified front was sought ahead of the 2024 elections.

Following the negotiations, both Wontumi and Napo have agreed to put their differences aside and support Dr. Bawumia’s presidential campaign. This development also clears the way for the presentation of Dr. Bawumia’s running mate nominee, Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo), to the party’s national council for endorsement.
