Alleged Grave Robber Lynched by Vigilantes in Wassa Grumisa Amid Ongoing Disturbances

A Suspected thief who allegedly tried to exhume a corpse as believed by the Wassa Grumisa residents was ambushed and lynched by some unknown persons in the area.

Daniel Effah, a Unit Committee member of Wassa Grumisa in the Wassa Amenfi Municipality, told Denkyiraman Radio that the incident which took place on Sunday 24th June 2024, was as a result of thieves disturbing the peace of the area for sometime now.

He said the practice of corpse exhuming has been consistent in the area.

“Several corpses have been exhumed from the graveyard and it’s very disturbing. Not long ago, one guy was mercilessly beaten for digging out a graveyard.
We have made several reports to the police and radio stations but all to no avail, I can’t say for a fact what the crime of the lynched guy was, as I was called to the scene when the harm had been done.

But I think the youths who lynched the suspected thief, presumed he was one of the guys in that act, so they took the law into their hands”, he said.

Daniel however noted that the remains of the lynched body were taken by the Wassa Akropong police command, and they assured of proceeding with the necessary investigation to get to the root of the incident.
