Residents of Nyarno Estate, a suburb of Dunkwa On-Offin in the Central Region, are distressed by the frequent flooding in their community caused by heavy rain.
In an interview with Denkyiraman News stream, they explained that the community’s swampy nature, combined with illegal mining activities in the area, has led to the flooding.
Despite numerous complaints to the town’s chiefs and leaders, no action has been taken. Some residents have used their excavators to help with the drainage, but they stress that government and stakeholders’ assistance is still needed for a permanent solution, especially with the heavy rainfall season approaching.
