The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has initiated a statewide COVID-19 immunisation programme in response to the growing number of diseases reported in healthcare facilities.
The vaccination effort, set to run from May 4 to May 10, 2024, attempts to arrest the mounting tide of illnesses, particularly in the Greater Accra region, which has seen the largest caseloads to date. Concerned about the virus’s rapid spread, the Ghana Health Service has emphasised the essential need of properly following safety precautions and standards.
Dr Franklin Asiedu-Bekoe, Director of Public Health of the Ghana Health Service, emphasised the importance of broad immunisation in combating the virus’s spread during a media conference. We are noticing an increase in instances reported in portions of Accra.
