The Director of Research, Pricing and Monitoring for the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers. Mr. Sampson Addae has said that the prices of petrol may go up 6.63% starting 19th February 2024, while that of diesel will increase by 8.18%. Therefore petrol will sell between GHC12.02 and GHC 13.29 per liter, from the previous 11.87 per liter.
Diesel will sell between 13.21 and GHC 14.60 per litre from 12.85 per litre.
Mr. Addae explained that the price change would be due to COPEC however pleaded that the government should desist from the practice of increasing taxes and margins on all petroleum products as it is currently doing.
“This practice of imposing tax increase on the price build up only increases the economic pressure on Ghanaians”.
