The President for Beverage Consumers and Bar Owners Association of Ghana has issued a press statement today 13th February 2024 on their intention to increase the prices of local gins effective tomorrow 14th February 2024.
Speaking in an interview with Denkyiraman radio online, Mr. Moses Drybone, the president revealed that the increment is a result of the recent taxes imposed on both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.

Mr. Moses said the association was not warned about these taxes though the beverage industry employs people in Ghana more than lots of businesses in the country. “This industry gives money to the government in terms of tax returns, but there’s no consideration for that sector during tax increments” he stated.

He apologized to consumers for the inconvenience caused and continued to plead with them and Bar Owners Association said this change affects only retail prices and is to enable the bar owners to trade effectively with the manufacturers or local distributors.

He concluded that, this changes in the price will take effect until stakeholders and the government decide on reducing the tax rate.
