Full list of winners from maiden edition of GFA awards

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Saturday, September 9, 2023, organised the maiden edition of its awards scheme.

The 2023 Ghana Football Association (GFA) Awards took place at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) in Accra on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

The awards were categorized into three forms thus, Bet Pawa Premier League, MTN FA Cup League and Division One League.

The vibrant event which took place and ended successfully saw players, coaches, and clubs from various GFAs receiving prestigious awards.

Vincent Atinga, a defender from Medeama SC, was the best player of the season in the Ghana Premier League. Whiles,

In the Division One League Category, Discovery of the Season was presented to Richmond Apokum (Attram De Visser SC), Goalkeeper of the Season to Solomon Ohene Nimo (Skyy FC), Top Scorer of the Season and Best Player of the Season was presented to Baba Hamadu Musa (Skyy FC),
and Match Commissioners of the Year awards were presented to Alice Ayine (female) and Michael Ntow Ayeh (male)

During the MTN FA Cup Category,
The best coach of the season was grabbed by Abdul Karim Zito (Dreams FC), the Top Scorers of the season went to Samuel Adom Antwi (King Faisal) and Manaf Abdul Umar (Real Tamale United), Discovery of the season to Aziz Abdul Issah (Dreams FC), Best Player of the season to Samuel Adom Antwi (King Faisal) and finally MTN FA Cup Goalkeeper of the season was honoured to Solomon Agbesi (Dreams FC).

Looking at the Women’s premiere league and MTN FA Cup Category, Discovery of the Season was awarded to Ellen Alormenu (Essiam Socrates FC), Goalkeeper of the Season to Grace Banwaa (Hasaacas Ladies), Top Scorer of the Season Mary Amponsah an attacker from Ampem Darkoa Ladies, grabbed two awards; the top scorer of the season and the best women’s player of the season, Club of the season was Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Coach of the Season was Joe Nana Adarkwah (Ampem Darkoa Ladies)

Hence, in the Ghana Premier League Category Discovery of the season was Abass Samari Salifu’s (Accra Lions) Goalkeeper of the Season Felix Kyei’s Top Scorer of the Season to Abednego Tetteh (Bibiani Goldstars)
Goal of the season award to Eric Serge Zeze (Asante Kotoko SC),
Club of the season to Medeama SC, the Best Player of the season to Vincent Atinga
and the Coach of the season went to Augustine Adotey.

Also in the Referees Avenue, the Referee of the Season Male side went for the FIFA referee Julian Nii Akwa Nunoo and he was awarded as the best referee of the season. He was awarded a luxurious Hyundai Elantra as his prize, Assistant Referee of the season Male side went for Emmanuel Dolagbanu
On the female side of the Referees, the Referee of the season was Rita Boateng Nkansah and the Assistant Referee of the season was Gloria Sena Kumedzro.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, secured recognition for being the most branded and the most vibrant club of the season, while FC Samartex 1996 clinches the title of the best Supporters of the season.

The exuberant champions of the Ghana Premier League, Medeama SC, and the Women’s Premier League champions,
Ampem Darkoa Ladies, both sent four awards each away.

Honoured personalities, including officials from the GFA’s partners, Black Stars players, former footballers, and lastly a superb performance by Kofi Kinaata, a renowned Ghanaian musician.
It was a successful event indeed.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL

  • Ellen Alormenu – Discovery of the Season
  • Grace B. Banwaa – Goalkeeper of the Season
  • Mary Amponsah – Top Scorer of the Season
  • Ampem Darkoa Ladies – Club of the Season
  • Nana Joe Adarkwah – Coach of the Season
